Barry was born and raised right here in Victoria. He's happily married with 5 children and 5 grandchildren. He's served with the Oak Bay Police Force, Saanich Police Force, and was a member of the RCMP in BC, AB, and SK. He was also recruited to a legal publishing company and served as V.P. Divisional Publications. He loves being on the water and spending time with family!

Karen was born in Scotland, grew up in Vancouver and moved to Victoria in 2011.  She lives on a houseboat in the Inner Harbour with her husband, new baby boy and miniature weiner dog.  Previously, Karen worked in aviation and law as well as working for Norwegian Cruiselines as a dancer.  In her spare time she loves to do yoga and garden on her houseboat patio.    Contact: kgates@victoriaharbourferry.com

Yves was brought up on the St Lawrence River, had a long career in the Royal Canadian Navy and has enjoyed fourteen years working in Victoria's beautiful harbour. He enjoys travelling and meeting travellers from all around the world.  Yves is a Watch Leader and the VHF Training Officer.

Andy was born in Blackpool, England, raised in Toronto, and has lived on Vancouver Island for over 34 years. He loves being a Captain and meeting people from around the world.  His voyages up the Gorge are filled with history and humour.  Andy is also an avid musician and songwriter.

Annie moved from Ottawa to Victoria to enjoy the mild winters and the wonderful west coast lifestyle.  She loves the outdoors, hiking, cooking and the theatre!

Arnie spent 28 years in the Navy. He is a recreational and blue water sailor, and this is his 18th year with Victoria Harbour Ferry!

Brian is a native Victorian and doesn't understand why anyone would want to live anywhere else. Brian joined Victoria Harbour Ferry in 2013. 

Buzz Wilson

Captain

Buzz was raised in Victoria but moved to Alberta in 1971. Although he spent 42 years as a golf pro, Buzz began as a caddy at Victoria Golf Club in the mid 50s. He was in the golf business until retiring in 2013. Buzz joined Victoria Harbour Ferry in 2014.

Catherine Mustafa

Catherine came to Victoria almost 40 years ago after growing up in Vancouver and spending summers in Cowichan Lake.  She has a passion for travel and all things water related, from swimming to boating.  Catherine is excited to be back on the water after retiring from a career as an Information Technology Project Manager and Enterprise Architect.  She spent 15 years competing in dragon boating and outrigger paddling both locally and internationally.

Cathy McCaffrey

Cathy was born in beautiful Chilliwack, BC.  She lived on Gabriola Island for 15 years and worked in Afghanistan for a year in 2008 before moving to Victoria where she lives on her sailboat in the Inner Harbour.  Cathy has worked in banking, finance, human resources and guest services.  She loves to work on her community garden plot in James Bay and spend time with her children and grandchildren.

Criofan was born in Victoria, BC, and has lived here her whole life. Next year, she plans to attend the Vancouver Film School to study visual art and design, but at the moment she is really enjoying working and being a part of the Victoria Harbour Ferries crew.

Christopher was the mayor of Oak Bay for 15 years and Chair of CRD.  He is the former owner of Jason's (Camille's) and Rattenbury's (Spaghetti Factory) and is a classically trained hotelier.  Christopher has been a member of the Harbourside Rotary for 33 years and counting and he is a mean tennis player!

Craig is happily retired after having worked 35 years in the security industry.  He has his private pilots license and enjoys recreational boating.

Daryl grew up in the interior of BC loving the outdoors.  Some of his fondest memories are working on the Arrow Lakes tug boats in his youger years and fishing.  Out of all the places he's lived in Canada and abroad, Daryl believes that Victoria stands out in beauty and uniqueness.

Dave is happiest when on the water, especially if he is with good friends and his grandkids. From 1980 to 2010 he spent his management career in the petroleum industry.

Dave was born in Vancouver and moved to Vancouver Island in the late 1970's.  He spent the last 15 years as a part owner operator of a water taxi company out of Port McNeill, BC.

Dave was born in Calgary, Alberta where he went to university.  He moved to Vancouver to work in Pharmaceuticals and Computers and while he was living there he established a fishing charter business.  David loves to fish and has extensive experience on the water.  He is known to always puts his passengers safety and enjoyment first.

Dave enjoyed a lifelong career in Thunder Bay, Ontario before retiring in 2015.  Sailing the waters of Lake Superior was his favourite hobby.  He and his wife moved to beautiful Victoria to spend time with their family.  Dave's new favourite hobby is showcasing Victoria's harbour in a happy ferry boat.

Dennis has lived in Victoria for 31 years, has three kids, and is a passionate fisherman. He practiced law for 40 years, 9 of which were with the Government of BC. Dennis joined Victoria Harbour Ferry in 2014.

Derek is a native Victorian, born and raised.  He had a fantastic career with the City of Victoria and eight fun seasons in the motorcycle industry.  Derek is excited to join the team at Victoria Harbour Ferry spending his days on happy boats filled with happy people.  What could be better than that!  In his spare time, Derek loves to explore Vancouver Island by boat and motorcycle because it is one of the most beautiful places on earth and you can never see it all.

Doug joined Victoria Harbour Ferry in 2013. He comes from the Royal Canadian Navy and is an avid power and sail-boater with 30+ years of experience navigating local and international waters. He is friendly and outgoing with a passionate interest in boating and telling stories.

Doug grew up in Victoria, graduated from Oak Bay High School, and attended Camoson College and UVic. He is married with two grown sons.

Doug is married with two beautiful daughters and one grand daughter. He recently retired from DND after 33 years. Doug is a qualified journeyman machinist and mechanical fitter. His many hobbies include competitive golf, family, travel in the USA, home renovations, cars and horticulture. H also enjoys home cooking and baking. Doug is very happy to be working with the Victoria Harbour Ferry team.

A part-time Victoria resident since 2005, this former Ontarian and his wife now live permanently on the Inner Harbour.  Doug is a retired marketing executive who spent most of his career in radio, television and publishing businesses.  He looks forward to working the 'Ferry Season' with the team at VHF.

Elizabeth retired to Victoria in 2013.  She loves living here and feels fortunate every day that she can enjoy the beautiful surroundings.  She is also an active nana and cherishes the time she gets to spend with her grandchildren.

Gary retired from the Hudson's Bay Company after 32 years.  He is a husband and grandfather and an active fisherman and eco-tour operator.  Gary is also a crew member in Search and Rescue Stn 33 out of Oak Bay.

Gary moved from Ontario to the Saanich Peninsula 42 years ago.  He is married with two children and two grandsons.  Gary enjoys fishing and snowboarding.  After careers in Oceanography and the fire service, Gary now enjoys keeping busy by spending time on the water.

George is originally from Ontario where he worked in the high-tech sector and enjoyed boating on the Rideau and Ottawa Rivers. Looking for a warmer winter he moved to Victoria and now can sail year round!

Heather moved to Victoria from Vancouver in 2015.  She comes from careers in Policing and Public Transportation.

Heldor is a former publisher who still dabbles in writing for the theatre and travel articles.  When not working on the water, he goes paddling or sailing just for the fun of it.  In winter he enjoys visiting foreign places with their abundant arts and cultures.

Ian was born in Powell River, BC and has lived on the coast his whole life.  Recently retired from a career in driver licensing management, he has finally returned to beautiful Victoria.  Ian is excited to be on the water and introduce visitors to this beautiful city.

Jack was born into boating by having a fisherman father.  His love of the ocean has taken him all over the world.  Currently his boat is moored in a cove looking out towards his favourite city in the world - Victoria!

Janet was born and raised in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, England.  She has lived and worked in Northern BC, Trail, Kelowna and calls Gabriola Island home.  Janet enjoys working in Victoria and loves to walk and explore this beautiful city.

Jim is a retired Yachtmaster, sailing instructor, and a private pilot. He really enjoys being on the water and meeting a wide range of happy visitors to Victoria and of course the Harbour Ferries!

Jim is a life-long Victoria resident!  He enjoys meeting people from around the world and loves sharing his local knowledge and stories with them.  Before becoming a Captain at Victoria Harbour Ferry, Jim used to work in law enforcement.

Jim is excited to be back for another season with Victoria Harbour Ferries.  During the off season Jim can be found at the local rinks officiating games on behalf of Victoria Minor Hockey or on stage performing with the Victoria Choral Society.

Joe was born in Timmins, Ontario and moved to Victoria in 1992.  He recently retired from a career in healthcare.  Along with cycling and playing hockey, he loves nothing more than to spend a day on the water and meeting people from all over the world.

John is an eight-year skipper with Victoria Harbour Ferry.  He is retired after spending over 40 years with both the Federal and Provincial Governments.  His love of the water and conversing with the local inhabitants and the vast array of tourists have been the highlights his careers. The motto "Happy people - Happy boats" is what makes this skipper happy.

Kathleen has lived on the coast almost her entire life.  She loves being surrounded by nature and she loves to paddle.  Kathleen hopes to one day own her own boat so that she can explore more of the coastal waters.  She looks forward to a great season as a member of the Victoria Harbour Ferry Dock Staff.

Kevin was born and raised in Vancouver but has spent much of his adult life in Victoria.  He enjoyed being on the sea with the Royal Canadian Navy for 38 years and now has his own boat to sail about in.  A father of 5 and grandfather to 12, he loves his children and enjoys having fun with his family.

Linda had a lengthy career in policy development of social justice programs.  She has been an avid sailor and racer most of her life and loves being on the water.  Her role as dispatcher allows her to be part of the Victoria Harbour Ferry team supporting the dock staff and the captains in providing passengers from around the globe with the opportunity to experience the unique and historic features of the Victoria Harbour.

A long time west coaster, Marcia thrives on having the mountains and the sea at her doorstep.  She has a history of running outdoor activities for children and youth and now delights in hiking with her grandchildren and sailing with her husband.

Martin has lived on Vancouver Island for many years.  He enjoys being outside both on land and on water and loves to experience the natural beauty of this beautiful island with his friends and family.  Martin is now excited to share the history and beauty of Victoria's waterways with locals and tourists.

Mary came to Victoria from Quebec, via a long stop in The Lower Mainland, where she attended university, raised a family and enjoyed 33 rewarding years in teaching. Post-retirement, Mary and her husband taught at International Schools in Thailand, Mauritania, China and Kazakhstan; but the many attractions of Victoria and The Island convinced this traveller to finally drop anchor - for most of the year. Mary is thrilled to be a part of the Harbour Ferry team.

Murray was born in Victoria and has been boating since the age of 10. His other pastimes include vintage vehicles and riding his Harley. He loves the water and was active in the Power Squadron and Coast Guard Auxiliary for many years. Murray joined Victoria Harbour Ferry in 2014.

Paul is a native Victorian.  He grew up and went to school in Victoria but spent 25 years in Kelowna where he raised his family.  Paul retired from a wonderful 10 year career in education.  He moved back to the coast in 2000 and spent many years exploring the BC and Alaskan coastline on his liveaboard boat.  Paul loves photography, kayaking, fishing and exploring our amazing coastal .

After a long and fulfilling career in the hospitality industry, Perry is looking forward to combining his passion for customer service with his lifelong love of being on the water.

Peter was born in Toronto, Ontario but saw the light and moved out west to beautiful Victoria, BC.  He was a cold water diver from the North Pole and a former pilot.

Richard Bugslag

Born in Victoria, Richard grew up in Oak Bay.  He was a scuba diver in his teens at the Undersea Gardens and Sealand of the Pacific.  He worked throughout BC, mostly in banking.  Richard retired in January 2015, bought and lived on a 30' Catalina before moving back to Vancouver Island to be closer to family.

Robert joined us in 2006 following 37 years in banking management and operating his own business conducting investment seminars across Canada and the USA. He has been an Active member of the Federation of Canadian artists for over 20 years. He and his wife enjoy RV'ing in their motorhome and spending winters in warmer climates.

Ron moved to beautiful BC from Ontario in 2014.  He was a retired airport manager and private island resort manager.  Ron loves to fly and has been a private pilot since 1975.  He enjoys canoing, hiking and spending time with his wife, 3 children and 3 grandchildren.  Ron is looking forward to another exciting season with Victoria Harbour Ferry!

Sandi was born in Toronto and spent most of her life there. She sailed on Lake Ontario for several years before moving to Victoria to live in paradise! She now works as a Harbour Ferry captain and volunteers for Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue to keep in touch with all things nautical.

Sam answered the call of the West in his retirement from the business world and has downsized to the vibrant city of Victoria.  After a lifetime of boating the Muskoka Lakes and the St. Lawrence River in Ontario, he is thrilled to have joined the crew at Victoria Harbour Ferry in 2014.  Sam truly enjoys sharing the history and stories of his wonderful new city.

Originally from Toronto, Scott has lived on the west coast off and on for over 30 years.  He is currently living on a floating home and loving it!

Sheila McLennan

Sheila is excited to be working with Victoria Harbour Ferry.  She was born in England and moved to Edmonton after finishing university.  She spent over 20 years in Edmonton as an engineer before moving to Victoria in 2016.  Sheila enjoys travelling and meeting people from all over the world.

Stan has 25+ years in the hospitality industry as an owner and operator in both restaurants and hotels. He's been messing around in boats for more than 50 years and is an avid sailor. He spent 2 years sailing to New Zealand and back, and he currently teaches sailing as well as driving the ferries in the summer.

Timothy was born in Turner Valley, Alberta.  He spent over 31 years of his career life in uniform (military, sherrif, police, fire and security) and 9 years self-employed.  Timothy enjoys spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Captain Tom Kirk was born and raised in Glasgow, Scotland.  He immigrated to Canada in 1968 where he embarked on an airline career of more than 30 years.  Rumours of him spending time in a galaxy far far away are, to date, unproven.  He and his wife moved back to the west coast to enjoy retirement and island living.  He is eager to start a new chapter in his life with Victoria Harbour Ferry.

Tom joined the Victoria Harbour Ferry in 2016 after a fulfilling career with the Royal Canadian Navy. A native of Ottawa Ontario, Tom could not think of more rewarding past time then spending time on the water and reminiscing with folks from all over the world.

Wayne is a 4th generation Victorian who grew up on Dallas Road.  He is excited to be working as a Captain for Victoria Harbour Ferry.

After 25 years of retail management, Wendy made the decision to leave her life of living on the water in the Kawartha Lakes to living in the Inner Harbour of Victoria.  Traveling, the Toronto Blue Jays, friends and family keep her busy.
